Morales Socks It to Jokers, Cracks 5 Hits Wednesday, May 12th , 2055 A jubilant Edgar Morales joined the postgame press conference at Steward Stadium to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Albany Jokers pitching staff he had just vanquished. "It may not have looked like it," said the Sacramento Spartans left fielder, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different." That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-6 hitting performance, which led to the 7-5 Spartans win. "He made it look easy," said , manager of the Jokers. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously." Edgar Morales walked in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Justin Payne in the 3rd, tripled in the 6th, struck out in the 7th, singled in the 9th, singled in the 12th and hit a solo-shot off Tom Shepley in the 14th. Morales's current batting average stands at .375 and he has chalked up 8 home runs and 28 RBIs. |
