Fernandez Cracks 5 Hits Monday, April 25th , 2050 After a 5-hit effort to lead Long Island's 10-3 victory over the Honolulu Makos, third baseman Ivan Fernandez told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day." "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the FBL Triple A-level is really something special." The 24-year-old player earned his accolades at Belona Stadium with a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Makos. "His swing is getting there," said River Otters skipper , who spoke glowingly of Fernandez after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Ivan did that to perfection." Ivan Fernandez singled in the 1st, hit a two-run double in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and singled in the 7th. This year, Fernandez has hit at a .333 clip with 16 hits, 3 home runs, 8 RBIs and 10 runs scored. |
