Hat Trick of Home Runs for Lopez Tuesday, April 26th , 2050 León College Magicians left fielder Julio Lopez put on a dazzling display of power at Flyers Park against the Panama College Flyers. In the 7-2 Magicians victory, Lopez penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts. "He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Panama College manager said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well." Along with his three home runs, the 21-year-old had 3 hits in 5 at-bats, 5 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Lopez said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today." Julio Lopez flied out in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Carlos Enciso in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Hector de Leon in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Hector de Leon in the 6th and struck out in the 8th. For the season, Lopez has produced 62 hits in 169 at-bats for a .367 average with 11 home runs and gotten on base at a .446 clip. |
