Four-bagger Feast: Almeida Slugs 3 for Chihuahua HS Monday, May 3rd , 2055 Chihuahua HS Golden Gophers first baseman Dave Almeida put on a dazzling display of power at Chihuahua HS Stadium against the Naucalpan HS Bandits. In the 11-10 Golden Gophers victory, Almeida penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts. "He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Naucalpan HS manager said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well." Along with his three home runs, the 17-year-old had 3 hits in 4 at-bats, 5 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Almeida said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today." Dave Almeida hit a solo-shot off Roger Gomez in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Roger Gomez in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Roger Gomez in the 4th, walked in the 6th and struck out in the 8th. This season, Almeida is hitting .446 with 25 home runs. |
