Ortega Clobbers 3 HR Against Swarm Sunday, May 2nd , 2055 Guadalupe HS Swashbucklers first baseman Alex Ortega sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little. Prior to the start of today's contest with the Calgary HS Swarm, Ortega told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times. "During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber." The big day from Ortega pushed the Swashbucklers past the Swarm, 12-7. To go along with the homers, he collected 8 RBIs and scored 4 runs. "I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Ortega told reporters after the game. Alex Ortega hit a three-run home run off Nick Dodman in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Nick Dodman in the 4th, walked in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th, hit a GRAND SLAM off John Dominey in the 8th and walked in the 9th. Ortega is currently batting .362 with 17 home runs and 50 RBIs. |
