Moreno, Hawks Take Dramatic Game 1 for 1-0 Series Lead
|
The Chicago Hawks started the Divisional in dramatic fashion, stealing Game 1 from the Philadelphia Fury in a walk-off in the 13th inning. Chicago took the 3-2 win thanks in large part to a good day from starter Luis Moreno. The left-hander threw 7.2 innings allowing 2 runs in the win, which gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead to start the best-of-5 series.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 13th inning, when Chicago center fielder Alex Corcoran, facing Felipe Jaime, had a run-scoring single. It gave the Hawks the 3-2 win.
"We are one step closer to our ultimate goal of bringing a title back to the people of Chicago," Corcoran said after the game.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Hawks Park in Chicago.
