Twisters Get Better of Firebirds, 4-2
|
Benjamin Lecomte, who won the Pitcher of the Year Award in 2042, propelled his team to victory over the Phoenix Firebirds. The final score was 4-2, Oklahoma City. Lecomte yielded no runs over 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 0, and struck out 4. His record improves to 3-1. The third-place Firebirds dropped to 8-17.
The Firebirds had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Twisters going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 29-year old catcher Mark Hodges came to the plate. Hodges hit a solo home run on a 1-1 curveball from Phoenix hurler Alfonso Caldera. It was Hodges's 1st home run of the year.
"When Benjamin is on, he can really move the ball around," said Oklahoma City manager David Fields.
