Toltecs Earn 6-3 Home Win
|
Leon starter Matthew Thomas pitched well against the Mexico City Marauders at Toltecs Field. The right-hander led his team to a win, 6-3. Thomas yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. His record improves to 3-0. Picking up his 1st save was 23-year old left-handed pitcher Fernando Norzagaray.
The Toltecs got a big at-bat from designated hitter Jose Gomez. For the game, Gomez was 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 7th home run of the season gave Leon a 4-1 lead.
"We're not exactly playing great right now," said David Fields, the Mexico City manager.
The Marauders fall to 6-14 and continue to sputter in the early going.
