Hawks Send New York Home with 7-1 Loss
|
The Chicago Hawks downed the New York Empire, 7-1, at Empire Ballpark. Stellar pitching by Luis Rojas had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who leads the IL in quality starts with 5, handcuffed his opponent all game. Rojas got the win, improving to 5-1. He gave up 6 hits and walked 2 over 7.1 innings. He allowed 1 run. With the win, Chicago has a record of 16-11. New York falls to 11-16.
Chicago center fielder Luis Hernandez delivered a solo home run in the top of the first. Overall, he went 3 for 5, picking up 1 home run, 1 single, and 1 double. He scored 2 runs and knocked in 1.
