Fury Sunk by Empire
The New York Empire trumped the Philadelphia Fury, 7-4, at Empire Ballpark. New York center fielder Aaron Carmichael was terrific. He went 2-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Sergio Alvarado got the win, improving to 1-1. He worked 7 innings, giving up 2 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 4. Manny Grijalva locked down his 2nd save.

Carmichael had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a first pitch slider from Greg Feltus, he banged a 2-run home run to center, giving the Empire a 3-2 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for Carmichael.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Carmichael. "And not try to do too much."

Philadelphia, with the loss, is still a hardy 14-5.
