Byrd Sensational, 5-for-6 Saturday, April 9th , 2050 It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Mark Byrd -- a 5-hit effort. He went on a rampage at Hermosillo College Stadium and paced the 8-6 Lakers win over the Hermosillo College Triplets. After his dynamite batting performance, the Houston College third baseman told reporters that he "just tried to get in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control." His philosophy paid dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 6 tries and put his name in the record book. Mark Byrd hit a solo-shot off Carlos Enriquez in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, struck out in the 8th and hit an RBI double in the 9th. Currently Byrd is batting .395 with 16 home runs and 47 RBIs. |
