Jose Lujan Wallops 3 Homers for 89ers Sunday, April 10th , 2050 Pachuca HS 89ers center fielder Jose Lujan put on a dazzling display of power at 89ers Field against the Guadalupe HS Tides. In the 14-6 89ers victory, Lujan penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts. "He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Guadalupe HS manager said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well." Along with his three home runs, the 17-year-old had 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 6 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Lujan said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today." Jose Lujan flied out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Jorge Mireles in the 4th, doubled in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Roberto Delgado in the 6th and hit a three-run home run off Jose Labrado in the 8th. So far this season, Lujan has 17 home runs and a .344 batting average. |
